- Required - Registered nurse diploma.
- Preferred - Bachelor's degree.
Work Experience:
Certifications:
- Required - Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
- Preferred - Current American Board of Transplant Coordinators (ABTC) Certification as Clinical Transplant Coordinator.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
- Ability to be self-directed.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on-call availability).
Job Duties:
- Performs pre-transplant clinical activities to ensure patients are assessed and prepared for procedures.
- Performs clinical activities including rounds, direct patient care, and lab/ test data reviews and interpretations.
- Performs post-transplant clinical activities to ensure patients receive appropriate aftercare.
- Educates patients and colleagues on transplant procedures.
- Acts as a consultant, role model, and resource person for transplant team members, nursing staff, students, and residents.
- Participates in activities for professional growth.
- Supervises, trains, and develops department staff.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions, and communication style.
- Performs other related duties as required.
