Functioning within the Health System’s mission, vision, values, policies and procedures, the Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of assigned patients on his/her shift. Patient care is delivered by the RN who is partnered with one or more caregivers that may include another RN, Surgical Technician, Licensed Practical Nurse, ancillary or anesthesia staff. The RN is responsible for delegating appropriate tasks to the partner(s) to care for the assigned group of patients. RN responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care. Judgments are made based upon scientific knowledge and clinical skills. The RN also assists in planning, directing and teaching non-RN staff such as Surgical Technicians, Patient Care Technicians, and Licensed Practical Nurses. RNs in this positon are required to perform in both circulating and scrub nurse roles in all facets of Surgical Services including but not limited to Ortho, General, OB/GYN, Urology, ENT, Neuro, Plastics, Vascular, Cardiovascular (CVOR), Hybrid, Robotics, and Laser cases. May be required to enter and audit charges made to patient accounts for surgical procedures. Once training is completed, RNs are expected to be part of the on call rotation. On call response time within 30 minutes is required.. On call frequency is determined in accordance with department guidelines.
Call requirement - will take call on Open Heart team.Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. A BSN is preferred. Training in telemetry is preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Must have a valid unrestricted RN license for the State of Ohio. Current BLS required. ACLS, CNOP, and PALS preferred.
Experience: One to three years’ OR experience preferred. Strong background in vascular and endovascular procedures preferred.
Skills: Must show competency in the practice of nursing with exceptional technical skills and strong organizational, prioritization and delegation skills. Must have a willingness to train in all facets of Surgical Services including, but not limited to, CVOR, Ortho, General, OB/GYN, Urology, ENT, Neuro, Vascular, Plastics and Robotics including Hybrid, Robotic and Laser cases. Must demonstrate flexibility with work schedule changes and the ability to work in a fast paced environment and quickly adapt to changes throughout the shift. Must be highly motivated, possess critical thinking skills, basic computer navigation skills, and a working knowledge of the internet. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate in a professional manner with the patients and their families, coworkers and physicians.
