Responsibilities:As a surgical services nurse at St Mary Medical Center you will prepare patients for surgical procedures and assist in the operating room to ensure they receive excellent nursing when they are at their most vulnerable.
Every day you will go over consent forms answer questions about the procedure do preoperative assessments make sure the equipment is ready to go and update family members on the surgery status during the operation. You will be expected to directly assist the surgeon during the actual surgery.
To be successful in this role you must have the ability to maintain focus while multitasking remain calm under pressure and exercise good judgment in emergency situations.

- Assist surgeon and surgical team in the OR
- Care for patients before during and after procedures
- Develop and implement nursing care plan for surgical patients
- Ensure operating rooms are prepped with all necessary equipment and supplies Demonstrate a high level of compassion for patients

Qualifications:
This position requires an experienced OR Registered Nurse who independently is responsible for utilizing the nursing process on assigned patients; giving direction; observing and ensuring the nursing process by other nursing team members and assuming a resource relief charge nurse and/or clinical education role.
- Minimum of three years recent experience in Circulator Role in an OR
- Or minimum 3 years in an OR for a designated Trauma Center
- Excellent communication skills. Certification in EKG and CNOR preferred.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Preferred Requirements:
- Certification in EKG and CNOR preferred.
