About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Telemetry (Stroke) **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 12H Nights, Every Other Weekend, First to Float **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum 3 years **License:** Valid nursing license required **Certifications:** ACLS, BLS, NIHSS **Must-Have:** Experience with Cerner EMR system and NIHSS usage on the floor **Job Description:** - Provide care for patients in a fast-paced telemetry unit specializing in stroke cases, similar to a stepdown unit. - Handle high patient turnover and high acuity/high-risk patients. - Ensure proficiency in interpreting telemetry strips and setting alarm rates with 24/7 monitor tech support. - Administer specified medications, such as Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, and Dobutamine. Occasionally handle chemotherapy patients (chemo certification preferred but not required). - Comply with the unit orientation process, including orientation in the ICU. - Float to Med/Surg, other telemetry units, or ICU as necessary, with appropriate patient assignments based on acuity and orientation. - Follow all hospital policies regarding break times and weekend shift requirements. - Collaborate with a team including charge nurses, nurse aides, and other support staff. - Wear required navy blue scrubs, including the option for a navy scrub jacket and navy, white, or black undershirts. - Maintain annual stroke competency for continuity in patient care.
