About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse - Telemetry **Job Specialty:** Surgical **Job Duration:** 26 weeks **Shift:** 7A-7P, 12-hour day shifts **Guaranteed Hours:** 48 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele experience, no exceptions **License:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Certifications:** BLS, Basic EKG certification (ability to read/interpret cardiac rhythm strips) **Must-Have:** - General post-surgical experience - Telemetry experience for cardiac rhythm interpretation **Job Description:** - Work in a unit with 48 beds and 10 additional Med/Tele beds, accommodating surgical and medical overflow patients. - Provide care for a diverse range of surgical patients, including but not limited to: - Bariatric surgeries: Gastric Bypass, Gastric Sleeve - Vascular surgeries: Endarterectomies, amputations, bypass grafts - Urology procedures: TURP, cystectomy - General/GI surgeries: Mastectomy, bowel resection, colorectal surgeries - Orthopedic surgeries: Total joint, ORIF, external fixation - ENT surgeries: Parotidectomy, thyroidectomy - Plastic surgeries: Muscle flaps, skin grafts - Neurosurgery: Spinal fusions, craniotomies - Care for medical patients with conditions such as CHF, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, and more. - Maintain patient ratios: Day 1:4-5, Night 1:5-6 for RNs. - Be skilled in peripheral IV starts, tube feedings, trach care, chest tubes, drain management, and other post-operative care needs. - Ability to discontinue non-tunneled catheters and manage heparin and insulin drips. - Work under the support structure of CNAs, charge nurses, resource nurses, and various healthcare specialists. - Complete orientation including hospital modules before taking patient assignments. - Follow standard rotation schedule with flexibility for weekend rotations. - Adhere to professional attire guidelines and hospital policies.
