Job Description
The Child and Adolescent Clinical Resource Nurse and Outpatient Case Manager serves two primary functions on the Child and Adolescent Program (CAP) Campus:
- Provision of nursing care to outpatient children/adolescents, including attention to both medical needs and the delivery of behavioral health programming via groups and individual interactions per the needs of the program.
- Coordination with Program Manager and Clinical Coordinator of outpatient throughput, including initial screening, assessment and patient intake, as patient transitions from referral to discharge. This includes outpatient program participant case management to facilitate reimbursement for outpatient care.
Responsibilities:
Outpatient Program Nursing Care
- Is available to provide first level medical attention to outpatient program participants, in the event that a medical issue arises. This may include such areas as basic and superficial wound care/dressing and monitoring of glucose levels or seizure activity.
- Participates in outpatient participant programming as needed. May provide group or individual behavioral health interventions consistent with the care model
- Ensures the application of evidence-based nursing care for all aspects of the outpatient program per the regulatory requirement of Wisconsin Chapter 40 statutes.
- Administers over the counter medications and medications as prescribed by psychiatrist and primary care provider.
- Works with the medical and program staff to contribute to the plan of care for the program participants
- Collects relevant data pertinent to the patient’s health situation and disseminates information to the team. Participates and shares information/experience in IOS rounds.
- Promotes adherence to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration/storage procedures and controlled substance regulations in conjunction with pharmacy personnel in the outpatient setting.
- Works with the Clinical Coordinator to maximize IOS census throughput by conduction timely screenings, facilitating program start date and managing length of stay based on third party approval
- Works with third party payers to obtain initial and ongoing authorization for reimbursement to minimize lapses in individual coverage and caseload volume.
- Refers patient to Meriter Financial Coordinator if reimbursement issues arise.

Required Qualifications:
- BSN - will consider other nursing degrees on an individual basis.
- 2 years of nursing experience.
- Electronic medical record experience
- Experience working with children and adolescents.
- Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
- Currently licensed as Registered Nurse and able to practice in the State of Wisconsin.
- Reads, writes and is fluent in the English language.
- Proficient computer knowledge and skills to include: word processing, spreadsheets, power point creation, email, web browsers and electronic medical record.
- Ability to adapt and flex to dynamic clinical environments and to the needs of learners.
- Ability to work independently and in collaboration with other key stakeholders.
- Consistently meets deadlines and department initiatives.
