About the Job
Typical Tasks
- Research, collect, and review data for transportation-related projects
- Complete technical assignments that include plans production and modeling (MicroStation), quantity calculations, and detailed cost estimates.
- Utilize specialized computer software to assist with the analysis, design, and plans production for new transportation systems or parts of systems, such as highways, streets, bridges, drainage improvements, and pedestrian facilities
- Aid in the preparation of detailed reports and documentation of the design
- Assist with plan alterations and modifications of existing streets, highways, or freeways to improve traffic flow
- Participate in constructability reviews, construction observation, field reviews, and preparation of documentation
- Function as a backup to other staff in the Transportation group to perform related work as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with MicroStation or similar software
- Prior practical experience performing engineering tasks for surface transportation projects or familiarity with related software packages, such as GEOPAK, OpenRoads Designer, and ArcGIS, is a plus.
- Ability to communicate technical information, demonstrate flexibility, and work well with others
- Possess attention to detail, a positive attitude, and organizational and time management skills
