About the Job
Typical Tasks
· Assist the project manager with directing the development and production of construction plans and details for transportation infrastructure projects.
· Identify, clarify, analyze, and solve complex engineering challenges
· Coordinate design and plans production activities across multiple disciplines (drainage, structures, signals, lighting, etc.)
· Assist with marketing efforts including research, letters of response, and presentation preparation and attendance
· Mentor design support staff and oversee design and preparation of plans for new transportation systems or parts of systems, such as highways, streets, bridges, drainage improvements and pedestrian facilities.
· Check construction plans, design calculations, or cost estimates to ensure completeness, accuracy, and conformity to engineering standards and practices.
Position Criteria
- PE license in the State of Florida (or if registered in another state, the ability to obtain registration in the State of Florida within six months)
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Prior practical experience performing engineering tasks for surface transportation projects or familiarity with related software packages, such as GEOPAK, OpenRoads Designer,
- Working knowledge of AASHTO, FDOT, and municipal design criteria, standards, and plans preparation requirements
- Understanding of design schedules, order of operations / steps necessary to progress a design from initial engineering stages to final signed and sealed submittals
- Ability to communicate technical information, demonstrate flexibility, and work well with others
- Possess attention to detail, a positive attitude, and organizational / time management skills
