What you'll be challenged to do:
TranSystems is seeking to hire a part-time Roadway Engineer Intern for the summer or fall of 2025. This person will join either our Downtown Chicago, IL or Schaumburg, IL office. This role will assist with a variety of projects encompassing several different aspects of civil engineering, as well as be responsible for assisting project engineers and project managers with design and administrative tasks.
- Assist regional office in various tasks related to Civil Engineering including design, analysis, reports, and plan production.
- Provide weekly status updates
- Attend weekly project and/or team meetings
- Will learn proficiency in computer-aided drafting and design software. (MicroStation, Geopak and Open Roads Designer)
What you bring to our firm:
- Candidate must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering or equivalent
- Candidate must be a Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior when starting the Fall 2024 Semester
- Must be eager to learn, be flexible and be a team player.

Work Environment:
- The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, construction and field assignments can be severe (i.e., airport noise, inside factories, construction equipment, jack hammers, etc.)
- The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk, or hear, and drive a car. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.
