Job Title: Safety Administrative Assistant
Job Location: 1300 Underwood, Deer Park, TX 77536
Primary Function:
The Safety Administrative Assistant supports the Safety department by providing/developing knowledge on policies and procedures, performing audits and ensuring the company is compliant with occupational health and safety guidelines.
Duties & Responsibilities
Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:
- Process background checks, drug screens and DOT physicals for employees
- Assist employees with TWIC card enrollment
- Order company credit cards
- Order/distribute uniforms for employees
- Coordinate safety council trainings for employees
- Process semiannual motor vehicle reports for all employees
- Coordinate monthly random screenings with employees
- Assist with annual DOT audit
- Maintain OSHA 300 logs
- Assist with workers compensation claims
- Order, distribute and regularly inspect AED devices
- Ensure compliance will all safety rules and regulations
- Assist with monthly hour reports
- Maintain employee records/files
- Other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications / Experience
High school diploma, or equivalent, is required. Prior work-related experience in a safety role is preferred.
Possess skills in the following areas:
- Demonstrate leadership skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Detail oriented with ability to work on multiple project simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated
- Knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software
Physical Requirements:
- This position requires minimal physical effort.
- Must be able to endure prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work indoors, with occasional outdoor exposure to year around weather conditions and noise.
- Must be able and willing to travel overnight for trainings and/or meetings as required (10%)
- Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically.
- May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
