About the Job
Responsibilities:
- Researches regulations for compliance requirements relative to department job functions, including conducting hazard and risk assessments of job functions and tasks
- Inspects work areas and associated equipment, including the performance of surprise Inspections, the latter when jointly determined necessary or desirable by incumbent and Risk Manager
- performs a critical review of written materials, including departmental safety programs and objectives, rules and regulations, educational materials, records of employee training, and previous reports of injuries to employees and citizens to identify as assess actual or potential safety problems
- Additional duties include the preparation of reports, assisting departments in report preparation, providing advice and assistance regarding the practices and procedures of regulatory agencies, and coordinating and monitoring the return to work of employees following a work-related illness or injury
- Inspect job sites, work zones, and facilities, audit records and prepares written reports with recommended corrective action and follow-up for implementation and closure in accordance to federal and state law, regulations and policies, including industry standards and best practices
- Plans coordinate and conduct safety and health activities, i.e., new employee orientation, job site and automated external
Qualifications/Background Profile:
- Bachelor's Degree and three years experience in Industrial Health & Safety or any equivalent combination of experience and training
- Thorough and robust understanding of State and Federal law related to Industrial Health & Safety
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with stakeholders within department and other departments
