Position Summary:
The Safety and Compliance Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of risk, safety, and compliance. This role includes conducting job site safety inspections, Training, leading incident investigations, overseeing incident follow up actions, working with third party vendors to help manage injury and workers' compensation investigations, conducting safety onboarding, and maintaining compliance with OSHA standards, EEO regulations, DOT regulations, and other relevant laws.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Management:
- Conduct regular job site safety inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA 1910 and 1926 standards.
- Identify potential hazards, develop and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment and enhance overall safety performance.
Injury and Workers' Compensation:
- Investigate work-related injuries and incidents, ensuring thorough documentation and analysis.
- Manage workers' compensation claims, working with insurance providers and medical professionals to facilitate claims processing and resolution.
Onboarding and Compliance:
- Oversee the onboarding process for new employees
- Coordinate drug testing programs to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) regulations, promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of OSHA 1926 standards, DOT regulations, and other relevant safety and employment laws.
- Develop and implement training programs to educate employees on regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Ensure that the company meets all DOT regulations for vehicle operations and driver qualifications.
Risk Assessment and Management:
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential liabilities and develop risk management strategies.
- Collaborate with management to develop and implement risk mitigation plans and contingency strategies.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, injury investigations, training, and compliance activities.
- Prepare and present reports on safety performance, risk management activities, and compliance status to senior management.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Risk Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience in Construction Safety.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in risk management or safety roles, preferably within the heavy industrial construction industry.
- Proven track record of managing safety programs and compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.
Skills:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office as it relates to this position
- Strong knowledge of OSHA 1910 and 1926 standards, Federal DOT regulations, and EEO guidelines.
- An Understand of Construction work and a desire to learn
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficient in risk management software and tools.
-Experience with ISNetworld / HCSS Heavy Job / Velocity EHS preferred
Certifications:
- Construction Health Safety Technician (CHST) or similar certification preferred
-OSHA 30 Hour
