Summary
Estes Energetics is seeking a Safety and Compliance Specialist at our Minden location. The successful candidate will build on existing policies, procedures, and programs and strive to continually improve our safety and compliance. We are looking for a team player who is willing to absorb decades of experience and blend it with their own ideas. Essential Functions
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure a safe working environment across all operations.
- Conduct regular safety training sessions and workshops for employees, focusing on specific risks associated with defense contracting.
- Seek ways to continually improve the safety of the operation, processes, and equipment
- Develop and implement compliance programs, including internal audits and assessments, to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Monitor and assess regulatory developments, including changes to federal acquisition regulations (FAR), defense federal acquisition regulation supplement (DFARS), and other relevant laws and regulations.
- Maintain, write, and implement policies and procedures
- Serve as the primary contact for relevant authorities
Competencies, Experience, and Education
Required
- Minimum five years of experience in related roles
- Detail- and process-oriented
- Experience with hazardous materials
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to learn and retain technical concepts
- Good time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software
Desired
- Experience with explosives (strongly desired)
- Certification as a safety professional, such as CSP, GSP, CIH, or similar
- Prior experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, and or chemical industries
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical or related field
Work Environment
The work will primarily be in an office and manufacturing environment, including outdoors.
Physical Demands
- Sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer
- Use of mouse/computer keyboard
- May have to lift up to 50 pounds
- Frequent movement through a manufacturing environment
- Use of personal protective equipment appropriate to the work location
Travel Occasional travel in the local area. Occasional overnight trips may be necessary.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Typical workdays are a ‘4x10’ schedule, 10 hours per day Monday-Thursday. Employees are expected to work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional overtime may be required during busy periods.
Salary
60,000 - 75,000 DOE
