Job position summary: PAMI is looking for a service-oriented Safety Coordinator to join our high-performing management team in Austin! The Safety Coordinator position is responsible for the promotion and coordination of safety and security for each property in the Low Income Housing (LIH) multi-family portfolio of 15 properties. The Safety Coordinator is expected to establish a strong presence at each property, using de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques, while also coordinating all other resources to promote the safety of residents and staff.
Summary of Essential Functions
- Provide excellent service to residents, contractors, co-workers, community partners and the general public.
- Establish a physical presence on each property, modeling de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques to promote good neighbor principles.
- Reinforce resident compliance with the Lease and House Rules through in-person contacts as needed.
- Coordinate with the Austin Police Department (APD) and other law enforcement agencies to facilitate the flow of information and reports related to criminal activity.
- Assist Property Management with documenting evidence for lease enforcement in cases involving criminal activity or violations of peaceful enjoyment of the property.
- Assess the safety needs of each property, including identifying security hot spots and making recommendations on physical improvements that promote safety. Establish an annual safety plan for each property.
- Facilitate communication between Property Management, APD, Off-duty APD Security, other 3rd party Security Guards and Residents to align all parties with the security needs of each property.
- Coordinate the resident Safety Ambassador program and promote the Apartment Residents on Watch (AROW) program.
Qualifications and Knowledge
Required
- High school diploma or G.E.D.;
- Four years of law enforcement or criminal justice related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in criminal investigations and / or conflict resolution.
- License to carry a handgun in the state of Texas (LTC).
Preferred
- Degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration or Social Sciences; or Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or two years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Language skills in Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic or Sign Language.
- Good knowledge of Police Department practices, city of Austin laws and ordinances as well as practices of the Travis County Justices of the Peace as they relate to evictions and tenant / landlord law.
- Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook - and Google Workspace - Calendar, Gmail, Drive, Chat, Sheets.
- Ability to meet and interact with the public and persons from diverse backgrounds, including Pathways Asset Management, Inc. (PAMi) residents .
