Position Summary:
The Safety Coordinator will help promote and implement the safety and fire prevention standards throughout the facility. The Safety Coordinator’s main duty is to ensure that the company complies and adheres to the Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) guidelines to reduce work-related injuries.
Essential Functions:
· Reviews, revises, maintains, and implements the organization’s fire prevention, safety, and security policies and procedures.
· Performs PPE inspections and Ergonomics analysis when applicable and maintain log with inspection dates
· Coordinates and conducts safety training, and safety orientation for all employee
· Conducts audits and inspections to identify fire, safety, and security risks; recommends and implements solutions.
· Conducts accident/injury reporting which includes identifying root cause and contributing causes
· Facilitate incident investigation processes.
· Identify and inform management of compliance issues, safety risks, and improvement opportunities.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Extensive knowledge of fire prevention, safety practices, regulations, and industry standards.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey safety procedures to employees.
· Strong communication and training skills
· Team player.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
· Conflict resolution skills
· Good interpersonal skills and leadership abilities
Qualifications:
· Bilingual Spanish/English required
· Bachelor’s or associate degree in safety management, Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required.
· Three years of safety experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
· Advanced training or certification in safety and security preferred.
Work Environment:
Mainly works in a plant environment with some office work and meetings, as necessary.
Physical Demands:
While performing the job's essential functions, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, or walk, use hands to handle, grasp, and reach with hands and arms. May need to occasionally stoop, kneel, or squat and move at least 30 pounds.
