About the Job
Inspection Experts, Inc. (IEI) is seeking a Safety and Health (S&H) specialist to support a FEMA disaster relief operation as a result of Hurricane Helene and associated weather-related affects. We are seeking individuals for 30-day mobs to assist Safety Officers at projected and possible duty stations throughout North Carolina and Tennessee. IEI is seeking a candidate for contract employment. Below is the scope of activities that may be performed by the safety specialists:
- Utilize trained Safety and Health Specialists/Managers or Industrial Hygienists to inspect facilities
- Work under the direction of the client Disaster Safety Officer at field locations including Joint Field Offices, Area Field Offices, Disaster Recovery Centers, and other locations to support Hurricane Helene;
- Ensure the safety and health of Client personnel, Visitors and contractors at client managed facilities, and Personnel who respond to the field offices under the Stafford Act.
The candidate should have at least 3 years of S&H technical experience with general occupational safety topic such as ergonomics, life safety, electrical safety and other concerns covered under OSHA1910, 1926 and 1960.
Minimum job requirements are as follows:
- AS/BS degree from accredited university in engineering, environmental science, occupation safety or related field.
- 3 years of experience in performing industrial hygiene and/or environmental health and safety consulting.
- Knowledge on inspecting and resolving office ergonomics, electrical, chemical (HAZCOM), life safety, related issues.
- Experience developing reports with recommendations based on OSHA regulations.
- Experience developing job hazard analysis for high/medium hazard work tasks.
- Experience developing Occupant Emergency Plans (OEPs).
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Ability to pass a background check (civil, criminal, bankrupt, credit, etc.)
- Must be a US Citizen
- Willing to work 10-hour shifts and possibly 7-days per week during deployment.
