The City of Torrance is recruiting for a Safety and Risk Management Specialist to be part of the dynamic Team of the Finance Department!
The Department
The Finance Department is a dynamic organization whose mission is to protect the City's assets while providing and supporting the Torrance community with sound financial advice in a timely, cost effective and professional manner. Managing the department's $6.0 million General Fund budget, $16.5 million Self-Insurance budget and day- to-day operations is skillfully executed by 41 staff members. The Finance Director assists the City Manager with the Operating and Capital Improvement Plan budgets, serves as advisor to the Land Management Team and Investment Committee, and presents to the City Council an annual audited statement of the City's financial condition prepared in accordance with governmental reporting standards promulgated by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB). The City of Torrance's Risk Management division is seeking a unique individual to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment within the public sector. The successful candidate will be highly organized, value responsiveness and customer service, and have a proven track record in Risk Management.
This position is a key part of our team. It reports directly to the Risk Manager and works collaboratively across the organization to meet the needs of all departments. Under the supervision of the Risk Manager, this position will be responsible for developing, implementing, and administering a comprehensive safety management program for the City; conducting field audits, investigations, job safety analyses, safety training programs and meetings in compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations.
