Summary: The Safety and Security Manager under the leadership of the Director of Facilities and Safety responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for all guests, staff, visitors, and campus. Supports and manage the planning, developing, implementing, and maintaining general campus security, loss prevention, health and safety operations and training, protection of campus and property assets, diminishing hazard risks, protecting guest belongings, ADA compliance, accident mitigation, work comps cases, fire prevention, power outages, and emergency response.

Campus Leadership Duties:
- Develops, plans, organizes, and directs activities related to the overall campus safety and security operations.
- Supervises and coordinates department planning and operations, and personnel supervision, including the development, training, culture adherence, and evaluation of all support staff.
- Supports the Director of Facilities and Safety in developing, managing, and overseeing the emergency preparedness, recovery plans, operations, and procedures for the organization according to California Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS) and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
- Manages and oversees security and safety staff patrol procedures and duties, opening and locking procedures, including any contracted services related to campus safety and security.
- Establishes and maintains periodic inspection programs of buildings and facilities to ensure compliance with fire, safety, and security codes and regulations.
- Monitor and act upon changes in CDC, State, County regarding health and safety regulations.
- Ensure proper security coverage during operating hours and coordinate with third-party vendors and local authorities in case additional support is needed.
Campus Leadership Duties:
- Conducts investigations of losses of campus assets and refer to proper management for disposition. Handles complaints, settles disputes, and resolves or negotiates grievances and conflicts.
- Coordinates emergency response activities, including emergencies involving medical situations, hazardous materials, and natural disasters. Ensures the campus is prepared for emergency responses with a maintained and current Emergency Action Plan, emergency boxes, and first aid kits.
- Participates in campus disaster preparedness activities, coordinates campus emergency drills, manages and coordinates central dispatch and communications in time of disaster, and implements the Campus Crisis Communication Action Plan.
- Responds to incidents and emergencies on campus. Reviews documented campus injury reports, assists in the investigation of accidents, promotes adherence to established safety procedures, conducts campus departmental safety assessments, conducts safety training, and conducts campus awareness programs on safety, security, and crime prevention.
- Directs investigations of violations and crimes on campus while reporting work-related injuries to the proper parties.
- Completes proper documentation and reports all employee accident and general liability incidents.
- Identifies and makes recommendations for minimizing physical hazards and unsafe work practices.
- Periodically acts as a liaison for the campus in cooperating with law enforcement agencies in the prevention, control, and investigation of illegal activities affecting staff, guests, and facilities.
- Keeps abreast of local criminal activity as it may impact property.
- Identifies physical hazards and unsafe work practices and makes recommendations for minimizing them.
- Completes proper documentation and reports employee accident and general liability incidents to claims reporting service while preparing progress reports on campus safety and security concerns.
- Handles emergency situations and effectively communicates to external emergency response team, guests, and staff through resolution while ensuring all guest and employee issues are resolved promptly.
- Performs first aid as needed and ensures injuries are referred to proper medical care.
- Support the Director of Facilities and Safety in the creation and implementation of training, including First Aid and CPR. In conjunction with HR maintains updates periodical recertifications.
- Manage campus lost and found.
Facilities Support Duties:
- Monitors the campus fire panel, responds to alarms accordingly and coordinates with the local fire department.
- Inspects all safety and security equipment and ensures it is fully functioning and inventory is complete and actual.
- Maintains the security office and lost and found section, responds to all guest and associate inquiries through calls and emails, and prioritizes urgent requests.
- Performs regular safety inspections of buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect safety issues, malfunctions, and repairs making recommendations to the Senior Safety and Security Manager.
- Maintains and enforces staff, guest, contractor, and visitor access to approved areas on campus.
- Collaborates with the Director of Facilities and Safety in overseeing the distribution of parking permits to employees on campus and maintains the logging system.
- Supports the Director of Facilities and Safety in the training of staff and new hires on golf cart driving safety, first aid and CPR when appropriate.
Supervisory Duties:
- Holds direct reports accountable for each deliverable's performance and quality, ensuring that they are timely, complete, and up to organization standards and ensuring the Organization's core values are upheld.
- Manages employee's performance with a consistent and constructive feedback cycle that takes a collaborative approach to employee learning and development. Administers additional training, coaching, and issues progressive discipline when appropriate.
- Proactively conducts workforce planning to ensure staffing availability meets service, product, and/or business demands.
- Reviews punctuality and attendance timekeeping reports while holding employees accountable for organization policy. Provides coaching, training, and progressive disciplinary action when necessary.
- Monitors and consistently enforces all meal and rest break policies for staff by ensuring compliance with state and federal laws. Audits employee timekeeping records for accuracy and ensures that meal and rest breaks are taken timely per organization policy. Schedules meal breaks when appropriate.
- Communicates with staff on organization policy or procedure changes and provides guidance or training when necessary.
- Collaborates with Director of Facilities and Safety in the delivery of daily stand up meetings and monthly Conversations That Matter meetings (CTM). Support other leaders by attending daily stand ups and CTM meetings to ensure that the Safety and Security culture is actual and consistent across departments.
- Adapts or develops departmental training materials based on workforce skillset, conduct, or schedules training to meet organization goals. Ensures compliance training requirements met and conducted timely and in accordance with regulatory agency requirements.
