HR PROS is actively seeking a Safety Specialist to assist with the safety compliances at our Baton Rouge jobsite. (Spanish linguist a plus)
Job Summary
Implementation and coordination of safety programs and performance management, in alignment with the company’s objectives.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Continually focuses on achieving market base profitability through effective management of all fleet and maintenance activities within the assigned area, including cost control, employee development, and high training and safety standards.
· Ensures safe and reliable vehicles are available to meet operational requirements.
· Conducts fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards are met.
· Conducts ride behind observations on employees route.
· Complies with and ensures adherence to company standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
· Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
· Oversees personnel needs of the department including selecting, coaching, disciplining, and training employees and evaluating employee performance.
· Reviews safety data from fleet management software and coaches’ employees on safety infractions.
· Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
· Keeping detailed notes and reports on all incidents / injuries.
· Ensures SDS books are on hand and kept up-to-date.
· Creates all safety training topics presentations.
· Conducts and contributes to periodic driver/safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among all employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency.
· Executes necessary precautions to ensure safety and compliance with Company, OSHA, and other standards and regulations.
· Ensures thorough root cause investigations for all injuries and incidents, following-up with consistent discipline and retraining.
· Provides training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner.
· Develops and assists with operational safety plans, monitors work processes, procedures, and best practices.
· Monitors and regularly promotes field operations in compliance with DOT and OSHA regulations.
· Assists and/or performs safety audits and assessments that include processes, facilities, equipment, and tasks.
· Serves as a liaison and collaborates with various departments to develop and implement technical training needs, addressing continuous improvement opportunities.
· Trains and mentors’ field operational management in safety programs and provides oversight for all operational safety training.
· Reviews significant incidents including field investigations.
· Provides hazard assessments, including identification of hazards and corrective action plans.
Updates and submits required reports in a timely manner.
· Formulates both short-term and long-term goals and action plans in conjunction with the Safety Manager.
· Others tasks deemed necessary by Safety Manger.
