Responsibilities
+ Works closely with the Aviation Safety Official, EH&S Manager and Operational Managers to ensure safety and compliance of work hazards, shop safety, and risk mitigation
+ Implements airfield safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for personnel and aircraft operation
+ Provides maintenance section information and services needed for airfield management and light planning such as construction that would affect the daily mission
+ Provides severe weather warning updates for equipment preparation and crew evacuation
+ May assume Aviation Safety Official specific responsibilities in the ASO absence
+ Advises and assists the ASO, functional area managers, and ACLC oversight personnel on all safety matters, including developing safety policy, and safety goals, objectives, and priorities
+ Monitors each functional area to protect against aviation mishaps. Observes GOP to detect and correct unsafe practices
+ Monitors and controls FOD program
+ Supports Government mishap investigations
+ Reviews, rehearses, and documents the adequacy of the Mishap Response Plan.
+ Ensures assigned personnel prepared to execute all aspects of Downed Aircraft Recovery Team (DART) evolutions
+ Conducts accident prevention surveys, accounting for all aspects of aviation and industrial operations
Qualifications
+ Must be a graduate of the U.S. Army Aviation Safety Officer Course, Naval and Marine Aviation Safety Officer Course or the U.S. Air Force Flight Safety Officer Course
+ Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing and administering an Aviation safety program
+ Experience with conducting aircraft accident/incident investigations and root cause analysis
+ MUST be available and willing to work rotational shifts
+ Must have strong interpersonal and team building skills
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Experience briefing both internal and external customers.
Desired Qualifications:
+ AR-95-20 experience desired
+ Accident investigation experience desired
+ Army Aviation; Unmanned Aircraft (UAS) or Aviation Maintenance experience
+ Experience with the development of safety plans and/or job hazard analysis
