Job Summary:
Entry level hourly position that requires necessary and regular completion of assigned EHS duties with primary focus on compliance and injury prevention in a large and complex manufacturing environment. Often serves as a first point of contact for various daily safety and health matters. Involved in support of ANC's Safety and Health programs. When necessary, represents the company with third party vendors with projects or activities relating to Environmental Health and Safety.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Represents the EHS department as a positive role model and advocate for adherence to Safety programs and standards for all ANC facilities.
- Ensures that necessary safety-related supplies are available to team members at various ANC facilities including but not limited to Personal Protective Equipment.
- Performs or assists with a variety of safety patrols, audits and inspections on a continual basis including activities to ensure adherence to compliance-related and facility safety rules and standards such as but not limited to daily safety patrols and annual/monthly inspections of fire extinguisher, emergency lighting, eyewash stations. As necessary, works with 3rd party vendors to support necessary safety-related activities and projects.
- Informs leadership on course of action relating to deficiencies and/or compliance issues with ANC safety rules and standards.
- Works closely with EHS management and manufacturing leaders to perform regular monitoring of adherence to safety programs, initiatives, and projects.
- Supports behavioral based safety philosophies with frequent observations and tracking of related countermeasures at plant entrances and within work areas.
- Exhibits strong attention to detail and expected to develop keen sense of hazard awareness and spirit of continual improvement.
- Expected to obtain and maintain First Aid/AED certification and to maintain a calm, confident and controlled demeanor in case of emergencies.
- Assists with training programs for new and current team members.
- Support various Clinic and Environmental activities as needed including spill response and clean up.
- Prepares beginning level tracking spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Accountabilities:
- Effective, efficient daily supply of various safety-related material such as PPE.
- Serves as daily contact point for EHS department for TM's and Leaders with a focus responsiveness and building of effective relationships with all ANC team members.
- Ensures timely completion with various assigned inspections and audits including clear and concise supporting evidence of conformance and/or countermeasure.
- Assists with and conducts continuous improvement activities.
- Meets deadlines and due dates for assignments. Promptly reports to EHS leadership of any issues to complete assignments.
- Assists with investigations and assessments to support injury root cause analysis, proactive injury / risk reduction, and improvement. Supports verification of countermeasure effectiveness.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a large and complex manufacturing facility. Prior experience and understanding with EHS-related policies, procedures and standards preferred.
- CPR/First Aid/AED a plus.
- Effective relationship building and communication skills in a team environment with ability to motivate team members to adhere to ANC safety rules and standards.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills. Effective analytical skills.
- Demonstrated flexibility and organizational skills necessary to multitask without losing sight of daily tactical and administrative requirements.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, as required.
- Demonstrate strong computer skills - Basic Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills
Physical Demands:
- Working in an industrial environment and with associated external properties.
- Lifting and handling heavy objects up to 50 pounds; frequent walking/standing.
- Driving / traveling to/from/between AISIN North Carolina facilities, vendors/suppliers, and other sites/locations as necessary.
