THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN PLEASANT GROVE/STOCKTON.
SUMMARY
The position will provide training to employees on driver safety programs, forklift and other aerial work platform safety training by performing the following duties:
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for training new employees on the proper Company driving regulations.
- Provide Smith Driver Training to all new employees, existing employees and refresher courses to employees who have received SAFECAT calls or have been involved in an accident.
- Required to ride along with drivers to critique driving techniques and provide general instruction on their driving habits, both positive and negative safe driving and defensive driving.
- May be required to give professional feedback on SAFECAT calls and investigations.
- Provide instruction on safe loading and unloading of lowbed, rollback and other vehicles in compliance with BIT and DOT requirements. Also, to provide instructions and training on the proper chaining techniques to secure equipment to the truck(s).
- Responsible for training new lowbed and rollback drivers on proper vehicle inspection requirements, daily logs, and other required DOT paperwork.
- Work with Central Dispatch on BIT inspections.
- Will be required to attend Saturday driver meetings quarterly to assist with any concerns or issues, and to conduct necessary training.
- To be “train the trainer” for aerial work platforms, booms, and scissors and to train the appropriate personnel at Holt.
- Conduct vehicle accident or injury investigations to determine root cause and communicate prevention methods.
- Review vehicle accident reports and make recommendations for prevention of future incidents.
- Inspect Division’s vehicle fleet for safety compliance.
- Assist with vehicle inspections. Review, monitor and update vehicle and driver list including auditing hours of service.
- Audit vehicle and drivers for all required driver logs and Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Setup class C driver files and enroll drivers in DMV Pull Notice Program.
- Establish DOT driver files including all proficiency, drive test, pull notice, drug testing, medical cards, etc.).
- Handle annual permitting and membership renewal such as FMCSR.
- Monitor and update the DOT CSA website.
- Update training records.
- Update and maintain driver certification files.
- Work with other departments on all items related to driver information.
- Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and five years related truck/automotive experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be experienced in State and Federal D.O.T. regulations.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Ability to write service reports.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Must have above average computer skills and knowledge of MicrosoftOffice, Lotus Notes, etc.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a valid California Drivers’ Class C license. Commerical Driver License preferred not required. Forklift Operator Safety Certificate.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee frequently works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.
COMPENSATION
Pay Range: $32 - $35 Hourly
Pay Range Dependent on Knowledge, Skills, and Ability.
