Position Summary
The Safety and Training Manager is directly responsible for development, coordination and tracking of all safety activities at NABCO Entrances and NABCO Canada (not including Royal Doors). This includes developing and conducting required training, program development, procedure development, injury and near-miss investigation, reporting, and corrective actions for both manufacturing and all Branches in the US and Canada. The Safety and Training Manager will also assist with and conduct training for other departments as requested which may include but not limited to quality, production, and service and installation training.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Long periods of sitting and working at a computer are required, with regular exposure to the factory. Sedentary work is performed in an office with little to no exposure to extreme weather or hazardous conditions. Typical office equipment such as a computer, laptop, and phone are used. May be noisy due to proximity to factory. This position requires regular exposure to the factory, which includes extreme weather conditions; noisy, dusty, and dirty environments; and motorized equipment that pose potential safety hazards. Reaching above shoulder height and below the waist, as well as lifting up to 30 lbs. is required. Proper safety procedures, lifting techniques, and personal protective equipment guidelines are always to be followed. Travel throughout the US and Canada will be required and typically would not exceed once per calendar quarter.

Essential Functions
- Overall responsibility to coordinate, develop, support, train, and assist with all attributes of the Safety System.
- Maintain required logs and track safety metrics on a monthly basis.
- Ensure compliance with Federal, State and Provincial mandated programs, environmental requirements, and required safety procedures.
- Create and maintain safety system documentation on all safety related training, documentation, policies and procedures, including evacuation procedures and routes.
- Manage overall investigation of safety incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Chair the safety committee, attend committee meetings, and coordinates committee activities.
- Conduct PPE analysis for all positions and ensure adequate supply is on hand at all times.
- Conduct Job Hazard Assessments on a periodic basis.
- Prepare safety-related reports and present to management when requested.
- Develop and conduct department specific training for safety or other topics as requested.
- Track training, maintain records, and provide reports when requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Language Ability: Must possess typing skills and demonstrable proficiency in procedure writing.
- Math Ability: Proficient mathematical and computer skills.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to work in a heavily deadline-oriented environment. Ability to work individually and as part of a team. Ability to identify, research, coordinate and resolve issues.
- Presentation Ability: able to conduct training in a variety of media and present to groups in a professional manner.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Word, Excel, and site appropriate application programs as required.
- Other: Strong understanding and knowledge of safety principles and Federal, State, and Provincial requirements; Strong leadership, training, and written/oral communication skills; Ability to influence without authority.
Education, Training, Experience
- Education/Experience: Certificate, AS or BS in Safety Management, EH&S or 5-7 years’ experience in a safety leadership role.
