Job Description:
Ideal was recently awarded a large government cooperative purchasing agreement and is seeking a highly motivated Sales Consultant (SC)–Government IT that will thrive in a highly technical environment, can manage multiple and a variety of opportunities at once, and is motivated by a high earnings potential. The ideal candidate will have experience successfully selling a variety of technology products, solutions and services to government entities to include State, Local, Education, and Non-profit. Sales Consultant must be knowledgeable in a variety of technical solutions such as Cyber Security, Networking, Cloud Computing and Managed Services. Sales Consultant will be provided with some leads generated through internal marketing efforts. Additionally, SC will also build business, within an assigned territory, by hunting for opportunities by leveraging the government cooperative contract vehicle. Sales Consultant will be supported by a Technical team, Sales Support team, and a large Vendor Partner Network to include manufacturers, distributors, and solution and service providers. Sales Consultant may be provided an Inside Sales Representative business develops.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
The Sales Consultant role is a professional and consultative sales role, helping to maintain or extend existing accounts and develop new accounts for the company. The SC targets assigned government customers throughout the assigned territory and leverages our portfolio of products and solutions to build a substantial sales pipeline and close sales. The SC initiates contact with prospects and existing clients to sell our solutions and products and develop relationships to explore their needs, respond with solutions our company can provide, close sales and support the client throughout the entire sales cycle.
- Prospect and uncover new sales opportunities within defined Government markets
- Respond to opportunities provided by our contract marketing efforts and work with Vendor Partner Network to provide or design a desired solution
- Review RFI’s, RFP’s and RFQ’s to determine which opportunities to pursue based on our capabilities, contracts, small business statuses and etc.
- Develop relationships with procurement, diversity managers/directors, program and project managers and to sell our portfolio of products and technology solutions and services
- Provide complete sales support including product sourcing, pricing and price negotiations, prepare quotations and proposals, configuration building and verification, and sales order preparation.
- Respond to and resolve issues in a timely manner; aiming to customer contentment and the preservation of the company’s reputation
- Work within CRM (Salesforce) to track all customer and vendor activities
- Follow established company policies
- Analyze duties and seek improvements in efficiency and productivity
- Maintain consistent communication with all parties including end-users or clients, as well as internal management hierarchy, sales team and order processing team
- Participate in ongoing sales planning and training meetings
- Seek opportunities to continuously learn new and emerging technologies
Minimum Candidate Qualifications:
- 5+ years of IT solution sales to government customers to include complex enterprise solutions
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Experience developing accounts and responding to RFP’s
- Experience with government contracts to include FAR’s, DFAR’s and government subcontracting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel

IDEAL provides a complete benefits package including but not limited to health, disability and life insurance, retirement plan, personal time-off and holiday pay. Compensation is base plus commission (approximately 60/40).
