Responsibilities
A key enabler of Mainspring’s mission is the ability of its team to develop and execute on key growth strategies required to substantially grow our new sales pipeline. This includes developing the required strategies and executing on prospecting initiatives that drive top of funnel sales growth. Mainspring seeks a Sales Development Rep, to help develop and execute on these critical opportunities.
Under the direction of the Manager, Sales Development, this role is responsible for helping to develop and execute on the lead generation and prospecting strategies required to provide top of funnel pipeline growth for the sales team. This requires the individual to:

Develop prospecting strategies necessary to identify appropriate target accounts

Develop account-specific outreach messaging and make first contact with key individuals

Leverage available resources and tools necessary to enhance prospecting efforts and achieve growth targets for each assigned vertical

Provide firm leads and pre-arranged meetings for sales team members
-
Measure and report on success rates of the various prospecting tools and strategies employed
-
Research and analyze new sources/tools available to further improve prospecting efforts

Leverage the proper cross functional teams (marketing, product etc.) and perform the necessary research and analysis required to optimize prospecting and lead generation efforts

Effective execution includes:

Networking with and engaging the applicable personnel

Succinctly articulating the value of the Mainspring technology
-
Overcoming resistance and following through on engaging key individuals within the prospective target accounts
-
Employing lessons learned from lead generation efforts to enhance Mainspring’s messaging and prospecting strategies

Qualifications
-
At least 2 years of sales and/or sales development experience (within the energy space is a bonus)
-
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees an asset (e.g., Masters, MBA, PhD, JD, etc.)

Understanding of the energy space and macroeconomic forces driving distributed energy projects and decision-making within those projects
-
Experience building top of funnel pipeline growth by engaging customers through a variety of ways and achieving the desired outcomes

Demonstrated ability to develop and execute on various prospecting and lead generation strategies
-
Driven to reach and exceed goals and to significantly contribute to Mainspring’s top line growth
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills both written and verbal
-
Self-starter that can demonstrate creativity in finding solutions to achieve results
The Bay Area salary for this role is $88k-$100k base + bonus + pre-IPO stock options + benefits. This position is on-site in Menlo Park, CA. The salary will be adjusted based on the experience of the employee.

New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.
