Overview
HarperCollins Christian Publishing is seeking a passionate and dynamic Christian Bookstore Sales Representative for the Southeastern United States. In this role, you will represent our diverse catalog of Christian books, Bibles, devotionals, and other faith-based resources to Christian bookstores and retailers. Your primary tasks will be to build strong relationships with clients, maximize sales, and provide excellent follow up and support. This role is perfect for someone who likes to work with a team, is goal oriented, likes a challenge, is comfortable with change and wants to creatively finds ways to grow sales.
Sales territory will be Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. Selected candidate must live within the territory or be willing to relocate to meet this requirement.
Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities:
- Account Management: Cultivate and maintain relationships with Christian bookstores, ensuring they have access to the latest HarperCollins Christian titles and best-selling resources.
- Sales Strategy: Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve monthly and quarterly sales goals.
- Product Knowledge: Stay informed on HarperCollins Christian Publishing’s latest releases, understanding key themes, authors, promotions and messages to effectively communicate their value to clients.
- Customer Support: Assist bookstores with product ordering, merchandising support, and inventory management to optimize in-store sales.
- Market Analysis: Identify regional sales trends and opportunities in the Christian book market, recommending adjustments and opportunities to CBAi Division.
- Collaborative Efforts: Work closely with CBAi team, to provide feedback from the field input and improve sales opportunities via promotions and effective tools.
- Event Representation: Represent HarperCollins Christian Publishing at industry trade shows, conferences, and local Christian bookstore events to network and promote products.
- Verbally present (in-person or via video): new frontlist/backlist titles as well as promotions to buyers as needed.
- Corporate Meetings: Attend weekly team meetings to provide updates and specific opportunities.
- Manage Store Account tasks: Daily maintenance of orders, updating sales data, and managing special order request.
- Travel: Travel is required.
Qualifications
Knowledge: Independent Bookstore knowledge, relationship management, written and verbal presentation skills.
Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of successful sales experience, preferably in the Christian Publishing industry.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the Christian retail landscape, including bookstore operations and trends.
Skills:
- Ability to work with a team towards a shared goal.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-Motivated, goal-oriented, and capable of working independently.
- Possess Christian industry knowledge.
- Basic retail math (calculating margin, weeks of supply, sell through percentages, etc..).
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multi-tasking.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Work Environment: Fast paced, blend of scheduled weekly tasks plus ad-hoc requests. Constant communication between store owners, customer service, and buyers.
The salary range for this position is $55,000-$75,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
