1. Position
- Sample Saw Operator
- FLSA Classification(s): Non-Exempt/Hourly
2. Job Summary
- The objective of this position is to acquire the appropriate samples per customer requirements and ensure the proper labeling and marking to guarantee their traceability. Additionally, this position will cut back any defects that might be present in the pipe, properly mark them, label them, and notify the pipes status and reasons in our system.
3. Immediate Supervisor
- This position reports directly to the Shift Supervisor
4. Standards
- Provide exceptional customer service to all customers, suppliers, and employees.
- Constantly represent Axis Pipe and Tube in a positive and professional manner regardless of customer requests, complaints, or demeanor.
- Comply with Axiss policies and procedures.
- Interact with other employees in a courteous and professional manner.
- Communicating all matters relating to the work being undertaken and any significant issues to the supervisor.
5. Responsibilities
- Complete flattening tests as required to meet all specification requirements for all products
- Remove sample of pipe from the mill (while the mill is in operation) for the laboratory.
- Perform inspections of finished pipe and tubing products including monitoring products during production process.
- Be able to set the press to meet the Flattening test requirements of the product being produced.
- Be able to use a computer to enter and retrieve information and data
- Be able to fill in all paperwork completely and accurately.
- Notify the Supervisor and Laboratory Technician of any Flattening Test FAILURES.
- Work within a team environment and assist other employees as required
- Work with Assistant Mill Operator on a team basis.
- Ability, general knowledge and training/certification records to safely operate acetylene torch, plasma arc torch, hand grinder, forklift, overhead cranes, and other related shop equipment.
- Housekeeping in work and surrounding areas.
- Responsible for completing any assignments given by Supervisor, even those assignments not specifically listed in this job description. Obey legal instructions from supervisor or manager who is in control of the mill
- Be able and willing to undertake training in a variety of positions including but not limited to using an Overhead Crane and Forklift
- Any other duties as assigned.
6. Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- One to three months related experience and/or training.
- Must be able to read and understand the Work Instructions for the position held.
- Must follow Safety Rules and Regulations
7. Working Conditions
- This position requires frequent communication, both written and oral.
- The work environment for this position is primarily in a manufacturing plant with loud noise from heavy machinery, grease, and dirt.
- There may be exposed to adverse weather conditions, extreme cold and heat, handling hazardous chemicals, bad odors, dirt, and dust.
- Workers will be required to sit or stand for long periods of time, walk long distances and work in confined spaces.
- Work might involve pushing, pulling, and lifting heavy materials.
- Position requires the use of personal protective equipment.
8. Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to fingers, hands to feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.
- The employee frequently is required to climb, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Hiring Process Information:
Employment requires successf l completion of a pre-employment drug test and background check.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
