Reporting to Plant Manager
Target Payrate: $100K-$120K DOE
Position Purpose
The Sanitation Manager will coordinate and execute activities related to the cleaning and sanitizing of the facility and on-site equipment. This role ensures adherence to all safety, food quality, and regulatory standards, maintaining the company’s sanitation procedures and protocols in a fast-paced environment.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure products meet company standards and specifications.
- Maintain complete, legible, and accurate documentation.
- Follow and enforce all company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Food Safety, Allergen, Food Defense, and HACCP policies.
- Communicate with supervision about any Food Safety or equipment concerns.
- Comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintain effective working relationships.
- Prevent equipment abuse and coordinate with supervision and maintenance to ensure all equipment remains in working order.
- Dispose of waste accurately and responsibly.
- Maintain a clean work area and operate within all safety policies, including using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Report any unsafe practices or injuries immediately.
Responsibilities
- Ensure facility cleanliness in line with company, FDA, QA, and BRC standards.
- Train employees on sanitation protocols and implement the Master Sanitation Schedule.
- Oversee sanitation processes to maintain the quality, legality, and safety of products.
- Lead the sanitation team to meet cleaning goals within set timeframes.
- Manage training programs covering proper sanitation, safety, lockout-tagout, emergency procedures, GMP, and HACCP.
- Oversee chemical usage and inventory, ensuring operational efficiency.
- Conduct full sanitation audits and compliance checks.
- Monitor and coordinate routine maintenance for GMP compliance.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to enhance team performance.
- Ensure staff are trained in safe and effective equipment use.
- Execute additional tasks as assigned by management.
Skills & Qualifications Required
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience in USDA/FDA facilities.
- Proficiency in HACCP, SSOP, and GMP processes.
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and email systems.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work various shifts and weekends as needed.
Preferred
- College degree or 7+ years in manufacturing, ideally within the food industry.
- 5+ years of supervisory or management experience.
