About the Job
The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for supervising and assigning tasks to the Sanitation department. This position oversees all tasks performed by the sanitation/utility workers and ensures the status of the facility remains compliant with all cleaning and safety standards.
In addition, the Sanitation Supervisor must offer support to workers with cleaning tasks as necessary and maintain the cleaning schedule. Start and end times and days can vary according to the needs of the department, with weekend work required.
The Sanitation Supervisor is asked to be on-call as needed and must be available to work varied shifts as needed.
Essential Sanitation Supervisor functions:
Including but not limited to:
- Supervise and leads teams with direct observation.
- Plan, schedule and maintain operations within GMP, USDA and FDA standards.
- Follows master cleaning schedule.
- Validate, ensure equipment is properly cleaned by conducting direct observations on task at the beginning, middle and end of performance.
- Ensure the plant is cleaned on a rotating, 7-day schedule.
- Assigns tasks to staff, supervises work areas, and provides assistance to management.
- Responsible for plant security at the end of each workday.
- Cleaning chemical and personal protective equipment control training.
- Spill Kit containment and equipment safety training.
- Shift change over hand off with QA and production supervisor.
- Responsible for assuring Pre-op sanitary needs by USDA inspector.
- Other duties assigned by management.
Sanitation Supervisor Qualifications:
- Prior supervisory skills - Required.
- Food processing facilities experience.
- Demonstrate Leadership experience in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment - Required.
- Proficiency with software applications such as: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). - Required.
- Prior Sanitation/Janitorial experience.
- Experience with use of floor scrubber, foaming equipment, and pressure washer.
- Familiar with OSHA, GMP's, Food Safety, and HACCP programs.
- Understanding and knowledge of U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requirements.
- Understanding of Federal, State, local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Personnel, Health, Safety and Environmental compliance. (Preferred)
- It is required to work a full-time scheduled shift from 6AM-2PM or until shift change.
Sanitation Supervisor - Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 25-50 lbs. on a regular basis throughout the shift.
- Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves, but is not limited to: food debris, odors, constant equipment noise, temperature extremes, wet areas/water, or similar elements most of the workday.
- Must be able to stand, walk, climb, reach, lift, carry, pull, push, grasp, stoop, squat, bend and stretch as needed throughout the shift.
- Under 1/3: Climb or balance, Taste or smell.
- 1/3 to 2/3: Stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl.
- Over 2/3: See, Stand, Walk, Use hands to finger/handle/feel, Reach with hands and arms, Talk or hear.
Weightlifting/Exertion
- 1/3 to 2/3: Up to 50 lbs.
- Over 2/3: Up to 25 lbs.
