RMH Systems, one of the Midwest's largest material handling, packaging, and industrial scale distributors, is seeking a well-organized and self-motivated person to join our team as a heavy capacity scale technician in Eastern Iowa. Our shop is located in Washington, IA- 30 minutes from Iowa City. Must report to the office periodically.
This position requires strong mechanical skills, troubleshooting mentality, and electrical experience is a plus. In addition, applicants will need a strong work ethic, solid people skills, and the ability to work well independently and with others. We need someone with strong attention to detail, good oral and written use of the English language, and a clear, polite, and helpful personality when dealing with our customers and colleagues. This position consists of primarily servicing, doing preventative maintenance, and installing all types of industrial scales (truck, floor, and bench scales). Technicians are provided a Company vehicle. A CDL is required. Candidates must possess currently, or be willing to obtain a CDL license upon hire. Pay: Pay ranges from $18 to $32 per hour
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs diagnostics, service repairs, and preventative maintenance on industrial scales in manufacturing settings, floor scales, and truck scales at our customer sites.
- Drives the Test truck (CDL required) as needed, and handles large-scale projects that require weights that can only be transported by the test truck.
- Works as part of a cohesive team within the shop to meet customer needs. This includes assisting, mentoring, or sharing knowledge with other technicians in the shop as appropriate.
- Performs emergency repair to malfunctioning equipment at customer site.
- Involved in equipment installations, as needed.
- Completes annual inspection programs for customers.
- One-on-one customer interaction- Maintains communication with the customer and answers questions relative to the work being performed. Makes recommendations for additional work that needs to be completed.
- Works with inside sales to order replacement parts, as needed.
- Maintains knowledge of existing products and pursues additional technical and product knowledge by actively participating in the training programs. This includes manufacturer training and on-the-job training.
- Completes service report explaining the reason for the call, equipment info, and what work was performed. Tech will also complete any other required paperwork based on state regulations.
Requirements for the position:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Associate degree in a related field preferred.
- 2 years of Mechanical experience required. Electrical experience preferred.
- Ability to perform repairs and maintenance on equipment following technical manuals and diagnostic procedures.
- Must attain State Scale Technician License within first 6 months.
- Valid Driver’s/Chauffeurs License required, and be eligible to drive per respective state law based on office location.
- CDL required, or must obtain within first 6 months of employment. Must register with the Clearing House upon attaining CDL or upon hire.
- Safety safety-oriented attitude required
- Strong communication skills.
- Customer service orientation.
- Basic computer knowledge and the ability to operate diagnostic software.
- This position requires 10-20% overnight travel as needed.
