Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our team at the Phoenix Day School for the Deaf. In this role, you will provide essential healthcare support to students with diverse needs, including those who require assistance with medical devices and equipment. You will work closely with our healthcare team, educators, and support staff to ensure the well-being and safety of our students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide routine and emergency healthcare support to students, including those with g-tubes, tracheostomies, and other medical needs.
- Assist students with activities of daily living (ADLs), including feeding, toileting, and mobility.
- Support students using wheelchairs, assistive communication devices (AAC), and physical therapy (PT) equipment.
- Collaborate with school nurses, teachers, and other staff to implement individual health plans and accommodations.
- Monitor and document students’ health status and progress, reporting any changes to the school nurse or healthcare team.
- Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all students, adapting to their unique communication and health needs.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of health care strategies and interventions.
Qualifications:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in Arizona.
- Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to learn.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable to the needs of diverse students.
