ROCKBRIDGE AREA COMMUNITY SERVICES RACS is currently seeking a motivated, qualified individual to work in our coverage area of Rockbridge and Bath County, and the Cities of Lexington and Buena Vista. RACS will provide training, supervision, and education opportunities specific to the position.

We have been providing services throughout Rockbridge and Bath counties and the cities of Lexington and Buena Vista since 1982.
Position Description: The School Intervention Specialist is responsible for the direct implementation of behavioral interventions, therapeutic activities, psychoeducational treatment, and care coordination duties for children and adolescents that are referred by the school administration. Children and adolescents who are referred for services have a mental, behavioral, or emotional illness that results in significant functional impairments in major life activities. These direct services are provided individually or in groups of children and adolescents. These services are provided in the school setting and summer-based program setting when school is closed for summer break. The School Intervention Specialist's main duties may include, but are not limited to case coordination, case documentation, consultation, education, providing behavioral interventions, and engaging in psychotherapeutic activities.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in human services related field plus one year of clinical experience working with children/adolescents in a mental health setting required. Registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professions as Qualified Mental Health Professional-Child (QMHP-C) or Qualified Mental Health Professional Trainee (QMHP Trainee) is preferred. Must possess a valid VA driver's license and maintain a safe driving record according to RACS policies.

Background Investigation Requirements:

Probationary Period:
All persons that are newly hired, rehired, transferred, promoted, or demoted into a Rockbridge Area Community Services position must serve a new 6-month probationary period.
