About the Job
SON faculty members who have advanced practice specialization (nurse practitioner, nursemidwife, clinical nurse specialist or nurse anesthetist) may function in all of the missions of the School. Scholarly teaching is an expectation for all. The faculty member must be nationally certified and state licensed. If practice is a part of the FTE assignment, the faculty member must also be credentialed and privileged as a member of the OHSU Professional Staff in accordance with the specialty bylaws. The faculty member will provide services as determined by the Dean in furtherance of the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. The advanced practice faculty member is expected to comply with scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU and SON policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice.

Instructor (MSN or equivalent): $98,721-123,320
Assistant Professor (MSN/DNP or equivalent): $105,238-$147,306
Function/Duties of Position:Clinical Activities (not related to teaching or research)
- This position requires an OR FNP license. Licensure as an FNP in the state of Oregon requires clinical practice as an FNP.
- This faculty’s clinical practice may be separate from the OHSU FTE or may be incorporated into the overall OHSU FTE; this is part of the position negotiation.
Scholarly Activities (research/writing, abstracts, grant-supported work, presentations, etc.)
- Provide scholarly support as a DNP chair to FNP graduate students involved in DNP projects.
- Assist with HRSA grants in Oregon and assist with coordination of clinical placements and developing strong relationships with grant partners.
Education Activities (include types of teaching and types of students taught)
- Instruction and supervision of FNP graduate and doctoral students in the Portland, OR metro area.
Service Activities
- These activities could include faculty meetings, student advising, reviewing student applications, committee membership, professional activities, and other responsibilities as assigned by the Program or Academic Director.
- Participates in faculty governance; additional engagement based on rank.
Administrative Activities
- As negotiated.
Other Activities
- The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service.

Instructor: MSN or equivalent
- Doctorate (Ph.D. or DNP—earned or in-process)
Registrations, Certifications, and/or Licenses: (Current licensure & certifications could be required depending on position and academic program.)
- Oregon RN license
- FNP license
- Current CPR card
- BLS from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Approval by OSBN for NP educators
- American Nurses Credentialing Center Family Nurse Practitioner board certification or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners National Certification Board - Family Nurse Practitioner
Experience: (Experience dependent on academic program type and rank of position.)
- At least two (2) years of clinical experience.

- Current or previous clinical experience in primary care preferred.
- Teaching experience at the baccalaureate level or higher preferred.
