Overview
Desert Choice Schools is looking for a full-time or part-time School Psychologist for our locations in Phoenix, Tempe and Casa Grande. Travel between at least 2 campus' would be required for full time.

Desert Choice Schools utilizes a highly-structured, school-wide Positive Behavioral Supports program that teaches students Academic, Social/Emotional Problem-Solving and Strategies. DCS is a division of the LEARN Academy, a national leader in special education, academic intervention, and specialized behavioral services. We use a structured program implemented in environments that facilitate functional independence and academic and social success.
Travel between campuses would be required for a full-time position. Also open to part-time positions at Phoenix (Roosevelt), Tempe, or Casa Grande, Arizona.
Responsibilities
The School Psychologist will be a part of a team that works with students with social, emotional and behavioral needs providing counseling, training, clinical case management, therapeutic interventions, de-escalation, pre-crisis and post crisis interventions. The School Psychologist provides guidance and team support in staying current with special education policy and procedure, as well as, best practices in academic, behavioral, and mental health interventions.
This position is supported by a day school program that provides a special education teacher and one to three behavior technicians who assist oversee with classroom management, behavior documentation and reporting, implementing social/emotional/behavioral interventions.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in Special Education case management
- Guide implementation of special education policy/practice
- Guide best practice in academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions
- Attend and participate in IEP and MET meetings; CFT meetings; intakes; reintegration meetings; threat assessments; behavior plan development; and team problem solving.
- Develop, collaborate and implement interventions for students.
- Counsel students per IEP’s.
- Facilitate parent training and provide assistance to parents in accessing outside resources for their child.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and record-keeping for compliance.
Qualifications
- Valid School Psychologist/LCSW/LMFT/LPC Licensure by AZ state
- Experience working with emotional and/or behaviorally challenged students
- PCMA certified is a plus but not required. We can provide PCMA training for you.
- Collaborate and able to receive to feedback, mentoring and direction from peers and supervisors
- Maintain a professional and clinical perspective at all times, able to not internalize or personalize (e.g. emotionally) in regards certain student behaviors or mannerisms that occur
- Ability to safely and effectively use Crisis Management Interventions (including the use of therapeutic holds) of all involved (e.g. self, student, other employees
