POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, performs school-level bookkeeping, record keeping, accounting, administrative and clerical functions at assigned school (elementary, middle and high). Generates and maintains accurate and complete financial records of all school-level funds.
This position reports to the Principal.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains the school bank account including monthly balancing; verifies and process school funds, makes bank deposits, reconciles bank statements, and assembles required financial documentation and monthly reports for the school.
Performs all accounts payable and receivable transactions for the school: issues checks, prepares purchase orders, processes approved purchases, records expenditures, and maintains all supporting documentation. Subject to monthly and yearly audits.
Responsible for functions at the school to include, but not limited to attendance, payroll submission, leave reporting, substitutes, etc. Serves as liaison to the central office in the handling of insurance matters, workers compensation claims, FMLA, personnel changes, etc.
Maintains accurate and updated school inventory and staff personnel records. Prepares and processes work orders as needed. Prepares and submits year-end reports to the Finance Department.
Performs other clerical duties as needed; acts as a backup for the receptionist, etc.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or GED certificate required.
A minimum of three (3 years) accounting / bookkeeping / payroll skills, computer knowledge and experience required. Formal training in office practices and experience preferred.
Makes administrative decisions which affect internal operations of the school.
Light independent judgment is necessary. Decisions made on an as-needed basis to establish operation of the office.
Requires regular contact with internal and external personnel within department. Verbal, written, and interpersonal skills required.
Applies, recommends and implements technology knowledge (spreadsheets, word processing, and database management) concepts to improve the effectiveness of the Department.
Normal office setting in a school.
Light duty - On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping.
NOTE: This is a grade 19, 225-day position that pays for experience up to a Step 4.
