Job Description:
The Sequencing Research & Genomics (SRG) group is seeking a conscientious, talented, and motivated molecular biologist to join a highly innovative and collaborative NGS technology development team. This role provides an exciting opportunity to develop genomics assays and platforms, enhancing our understanding of pre-clinical and clinical-stage assets.
As part of the Oncogenesis Thematic Research Center (TRC), the candidate will engage with diverse scientific teams, utilizing genomics tools to address complex biological questions that have the potential to benefit patient health. This position is a 1-year contract, with the possibility of extension or conversion.
Responsibilities:
- Perform lab operations including RNA/DNA extraction/purification, NGS library preparation & QC, and sequencing.
- Develop and benchmark high-throughput NGS technologies (e.g., DNA-Seq and RNA-Seq assays).
- Create and edit protocols using standard operating procedures.
- Generate, organize, and maintain meticulous records of experiments.
- Work independently and/or with supervision on new assay and protocol development.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to benchmark assays for automation using liquid handlers.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years of experience in molecular biology, biotechnology, or biochemistry.
- Expertise in molecular biology techniques: DNA/RNA extraction, purification, NGS library prep & QC, PCR, qPCR, cloning, etc.
- Strong understanding of theory behind techniques with proficiency in experimental design and wet lab optimization, coupled with exceptional attention to detail.
- Team player with a proactive, positive attitude.
- Strong technical skills and time management to efficiently meet project deadlines.
- Experience with cell biology techniques, such as cell culture and functional drug response assays, is a plus.
