Overview
Insmed is seeking a highly self-motivated and team-oriented Scientist II with deep hands-on rodent handling, dosing, fluid and tissue collection as well as animal model development, in vivo imaging and behavioral assay experience to join Insmed's in vivo pharmacology team. The Scientist II will collaborate closely with internal project leads to develop custom animal models, as well as plan, execute, and analyze in vivo pharmacology studies.Responsibilities
Representative responsibilities will include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:- Independently plan, coordinate, execute, and analyze pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies in mice and rats.
- Administer therapeutic agents to rodents through a variety of routes (including intraperitoneal, intravenous, oral, retroorbital, intrathecal, intratracheal, subcutaneous, intracerebroventricular).
- Perform blood and tissue collections.
- In collaboration with project teams, develop and validate environmentally induced disease models.
- Independently conduct advanced characterization assays including in vivo imaging and behavioral assessments.
- Collaborate closely with in vivo team members, vivarium staff, internal project leads, and ex vivo analysis teams.
- Analyze and present data to project teams.
- Author and review protocols, electronic notebook entries, technical reports.
- Maintain proper documentation of study procedures and results.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal guidelines concerning the use of animals in research.
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree in biological sciences discipline with 10+ years of relevant industry experience, Master's degree with 7+ years of industry experience, or PhD degree with 2+ years of industry experience required
- At least 5 years of prior experience with and demonstrated success in independently planning, coordinating, and executing pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies in mice and rats
- At least 2 years of prior experience with and demonstrated success in independent data analysis and data rendering of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic study results
- At least 2 years of prior experience with and demonstrated success in developing custom animal models suitable for a variety of disease application with limited guidance
- At least 2 years of prior experience with and demonstrated success in experimental design, data gathering, and data analysis of flow cytometry assays for a variety of disease applications with guidance from supervisor or team
- Expert knowledge in standard rodent dosing techniques including PO, IV, and IP required.
- Comprehensive experience in standard fluid collection techniques including tail vein and saphenous vein required.
- At least 5 years of prior experience with and demonstrated excellence in tissue collection and animal necropsy experience required.
- At least 2 years of prior experience with and demonstrated success in independently executing in vivo imaging studies required.
- At least 2 years of prior experience with and demonstrated success in independently conducting behavioral assays required.
- Demonstrated excellent organizational and communication skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic team environment required.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, handle multiple projects at one time required.
- Entrepreneurial spirit, proactive problem-solving attitude and strong willingness to take on new challenges required.
- Must be highly organized with a strong attention to detail, clarity, accuracy and conciseness
Salary Range
$104,000 - $137,800 a yearCompensation & Benefits
