Zenetex is looking for a motivated SCO Exercise Director to join the Faculty team at the Defense Security Cooperation University (DSCU). This position is part of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency. DSCA's mission is to advance U.S. national security and foreign policy interests by building the capacity of foreign security forces to respond to shared challenges. DSCA leads the broader U.S. security cooperation enterprise in its efforts to train, educate, advise, and equip foreign partners. DSCA administers security cooperation programs that support U.S. policy interests and objectives. In this position, you will be teaching Military Officers, Civilians and Industry personnel theories, principles and practices of Security Cooperation.
As an SCO Exercise Director the candidate must be able to:
- Provide one full-time Course Manager/Exercise Director with appropriate and suitable background and experience, as requested by DSCU, to fulfill the following responsibilities for five to six Security Cooperation Organization/Officer (SCO) Intermediate Course iterations annually
- Oversee the planning, execution, and recovery of the first two phases of the SCO Intermediate Course (currently called “SCO-220: The Fundamentals and Application of Complex SCO Operations”) which include the “Fundamentals of SCO” (currently called “SCO-201”) and “Complex SCO Operations” (currently called “SCO-271)
- Report directly to the Chair of the SCO Department to which the course belongs
- Oversee the Operations Cell during the planning and execution phases of the course
- Assist the SCO Department Chair, Faculty Development lead, and Instructional lead to appropriately schedule courses and slate instructor faculty against requirements
- Assist in instituting necessary curriculum updates and changes, as directed by the SCO Department Chair or Curriculum Lead, into the execution of the course
- Help to identify curriculum shortcomings and propose necessary changes to the SCO Department Chair and/or Curriculum Development needs
- Reviews student feedback surveys and consolidates the course After Action Review (AAR) comments into a concise, formatted product
- Assists the SCO Department Chair and Instructional Lead in addressing student-related issues; Communicates with Registrar office on student registration matters
- Coordinates with the Cornerstone-on-Demand (CSOD) manager and Instructional Lead to ensure scheduling and instructor inputs are properly placed into CSOD
- Identify budgetary requirements to execute the course and works with the SCO Department Chair to properly execute the course
- Works with faculty to manage external guest speakers
- BA/BS degree in related field
- Former field grade officer who has experience with course planning, operations, and exercise planning and resourcing. Preference should be given to candidates with SC experience who have served as DoD members in embassies
- Knowledgeable or at least familiar with SC Areas of Concentration (AoCs) with particular emphasis on SCO Operations
Skills required:
- Basic computer skills required
- This position will require U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. Active clearance highly desired.
