Job Description
The Scrum Master's role is to remove any impediments hindering the development team from meeting their sprint goals. The Scrum Master ensures rules agreed upon by the team are followed, and keeps them focused on priorities. Working closely with the Product Owner the Scrum Master assists the team in delivering prioritized backlog items each Scrum sprint. This role is best suited for a person who communicates well, is willing to have an attitude of service for the team while guiding them to the highest level of accomplishment utilizing the Agile/Scrum framework.

Job Description

Essential Duties
- Do everything possible to ensure delighting customers.
- Guide the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to delight customers.
- Guide the team to get the most out of self-organization.
- Guide the team to self-organize to fill in the intentional gaps left in the Agile/Scrum frameworks.
- Assess the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.
- Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment.
- Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving.
- Facilitate getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work.
- Facilitate discussion, decision-making, and conflict resolution.
- Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
- Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
- Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leading by example.
- Experience playing the Scrum Master role for at least one year for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
- Understand basic fundamentals of iterative development.
- Understand other processes and methodologies and can speak intelligently about them and leverage other techniques to provide value to a team/enterprise.
- Understand basic fundamentals of software development processes and procedures.
- Understand the value of commitments to delivery made by a development team.
- Understand incremental delivery and the value of metrics.
Understand backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, and task definition. - Knowledge of numerous well-documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.
