- ABOUT EAGLEBROOK SCHOOL Eaglebrook is a junior boarding and day school for boys in grades six, seven, eight, and nine, located in Deerfield, Massachusetts. SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
EDUCATION: Must have graduated (or about to graduate) from an accredited athletic training education program either at the bachelor’s or master’s level.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Must be BOC certified (eligible to sit for BOC exam) and be able to obtain a Massachusetts athletic training license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Applied Knowledge: athletic trainers must have knowledge about a large range of medical problems. Assessment and evaluation skills and working with other healthcare professionals will be needed.
- Decision-Making Skills: the ability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play decisions per state licensure guidelines.
- Attention to Detail: injury tracking and documentation should be thorough and detailed.
- Interpersonal Skills: the ability to communicate effectively in high-stress/pressure situations when talking to patients, medical professionals, staff, and families. Must be able to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision.
Preferred
- Previous middle or secondary school experience
- A CSCS certification, or a general Strength & Conditioning background, is a plus.
- Other certifications such as CES, PES, FMS, SFMA, and others.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop plans for providing athletic training coverage at all interscholastic athletic events identified in Athletic Training Program Coverage Policy.
- Establish daily hours of operation for the athletic training facility.
- Maintain the athletic training facility to a high standard of cleanliness and organization.
- Follow comprehensive venue and condition-specific emergency action plans.
- Establish a working relationship with the School’s Medical Director and affiliated orthopedic physicians.
- Be a member of the School’s Health Care Team.
- Establish relationships with the school’s nurses and Director of Health Services.
- Maintain adequate medical records on all injuries and rehabilitation procedures.
- Comply with any policies regarding health care delivery, including Standing Orders signed by the School’s Medical Director and the Concussion Management Policy.
- Help monitor weather conditions and communicate with the athletic director
- Assist the athletic department in hosting events.
- Knowledge of rules and regulations set forth by the NFHS, NCAA, and NEPSAC should be reviewed and practiced to ensure compliance relative to those applicable duties.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer, Athletic Director, and/or School Medical Director.
- Teach a science and/or health class as directed by the Dean of Learning.
