The National Western Stock Show is in search of a detail-oriented, highly motivated professional to join our HR Department as a seasonal HR Assistant.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a seasonal position with an anticipated start date of early/mid-October, 2024. Individuals in this role will be expected to work full-time (Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm) through December 2024, and will be required to be on-site every day January 5th-January 26th, 2025 for up to 12 hours at a time. Individuals will resume a regular schedule January 27th through the end of February 2025, when the position ends.

Established in 1906, the National Western Stock Show is the premier livestock, rodeo, and horse show in the nation, serving agricultural producers and consumers throughout the world. We are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization providing education in agriculture, including college and graduate-level scholarships in agriculture and veterinary medicine for practice in rural areas.
The National Western Stock Show, one of Colorado’s preeminent tourist destinations, is held every January for 16 days. A nationally recognized western heritage and entertainment event, the stock show hosts one of the world’s richest regular season professional rodeos, one of the country’s largest horse shows, and Colorado’s largest western trade show, attracting attendance numbers over 700,000 visitors each year.

Overview
The National Western Stock Show thrives on the dedication and commitment of seasonal staff who help to ensure the success of our annual event. As a seasonal HR Assistant, you will play an essential role in the recruitment, onboarding, and management of 500+ seasonal employees. You’ll assist in completing new hire paperwork, answering staff questions, and ensuring that all employee files are accurate and compliant. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, has a passion for people, and can manage multiple priorities with ease.
Reports to: Senior Director, Human Relations & Hiring
Key Responsibilities
- Assists in the recruitment process for seasonal employees, including posting job openings and coordinating interviews.
- Supports the onboarding process by preparing new hire paperwork, ensuring timely completion, and collecting necessary documentation.
- Responds to inquiries from staff regarding employment details, onboarding, and general HR-related questions.
- Audits new hire files for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with organizational policies and state regulations.
- Assists with the setup and maintenance of employee records, both digital and physical.
- Provides administrative support to the HR team, including scheduling, filing, and data entry as needed.

Qualifications
- Previous experience in human resources or administrative support is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with HR practices and processes is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization’s physical premises.
Working Environment
The National Western Complex is a multi-purpose indoor and outdoor commercial and agricultural complex where dusty conditions and animals may exist.
Occasionally, this position will be required to work outside in all weather conditions or around livestock, particularly during the annual Stock Show.
Compensation & Benefits
- This is a seasonal, hourly position with a pay rate of $20.00 per hour.
- Paid sick time offered at the rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
