ABOUT YOU
As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for performing tasks in support of Uncommon Goods' safety and security operations, such as maintaining a safe and secure environment for all team members by patrolling and monitoring surveillance equipment.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are currently seeking hardworking, vigilant and reliable individuals with a background in the Security field for temporary, full-time Security Officer positions.
As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for performing tasks in support of Uncommon Goods' Safety and Security operations, such as maintaining a safe and secure environment for all team members by controlling access, patrolling, maintaining fixed posts, supervising surveillance equipment and reporting & documenting incidents. Security Officers at Uncommon Goods are personable team members who maintain positive relationships with our onsite team members, use de-escalation tactics as needed to support a safe working environment, and maintain composure in the event of an emergency.
This is a fully onsite role compensated at an hourly rate of $21/hr. You will work at our Brooklyn headquarters in Sunset Park. Hours of operations are 6 AM - 12 AM with a morning and evening shift available.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Secure the premises and protect personnel, patrol the multi-floor areas, monitor surveillance equipment, and inspect warehouse and office equipment and activity.
- Prevent losses and damages by reporting irregularities and safety hazards; advise personnel of policy and procedures, document incidents.
- Sign guests in and out, answer phones, maintain logs, issue equipment, restock PPE supplies, direct traffic, etc.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a valid & current New York State Security Guard License
- Open availability is preferred, all days and shifts; weekend availability is required
- At least one year of experience in Security work (loss prevention, surveillance, foot patrols, fire safety, site protection, etc.) or any military service or first responder experience preferred
- Must communicate effectively with all managers, visitors, co-workers, and team members
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs
- Fireguard or other FDNY certifications is a plus
- CPR certification is a plus
- Safety-related (ex. OSHA) certifications is a plus
