Job Summary (Essential Functions)
The Shuttle Driver is responsible to drive a company-provided vehicle transporting staff in a timely and safe manner on a planned or scheduled basis, while maintaining accurate records of trips and clean and well-maintained vehicles.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:
- Arrives at employee housing apartment complex, as scheduled, to transport staff to Orchid Island, following strict time schedules. Arrives at Orchid Island for scheduled return transport back to employee housing apartment complex.
- Checks the condition of a vehicle's tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order.
- Maintains records of trips and ensures employees/riders initial their trips.
- Reports any vehicle malfunctions or needed repairs; makes arrangements for vehicle maintenance at repair shop, if necessary.
- Reports delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations, using cell phone (when vehicle is not in operation); communicates effectively with the manager on duty of any issues with drop off/pickup.
- Transports employees to or from airport at the beginning or close of season.
- Maintains the cleanliness of the vehicles by vacuuming and cleaning interior, washing exterior, and removing any trash from interior.
- Parks shuttle vehicles and catering van in designated / safe parking spaces.
- Requires regular in-person attendance.

Requirements
- Must have a valid Florida driver's license
- Must have a clean driving record
- Completion of a driver's safety course on a regular basis (provided by Orchid Island)

- Knowledge and compliance of traffic laws, ordinances, and regulations in order to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
- Ability to recognize potentially dangerous traffic situations.
- Required to be alert and rested when driving vehicles.
- Ability to exercise mature judgment in emergencies.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Meet the minimum hearing and vision requirements as follows:
- Have 20/30 (or better) corrected vision.
- Must pass hearing with less than or equal to 40 decibels in each ear under the frequencies: 500hz, 1,000hz, and 2,000hz; hearing devices may be used for testing.
- Drive up to 8 hours a day; sit up to 8 hours a day.
- Must be able to reach, bend, twist, and squat.
- Physical resolve to drive in the typical climate conditions and temperatures of Florida.
