The Providence Public School District (PPSD) seeks individuals interested in Secondary Math positions for the 2025-2026 school year. By submitting your application to this posting, you will be pre-screened by our Human Resources team and have the opportunity to interview with school-based leaders and district hiring managers. Those who are selected as priority candidates will receive an early hiring contract, contingent on completion of licensure and background check requirements, and will be guaranteed a position in SY25-26. Candidates who receive an Early Hiring Contract must also apply to school-based positions for which they are interested and eligible once they are posted in early March.
Job DescriptionÂ
- Plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for students.
- Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student.
- Supervises students in a variety of school-related settings.
- Monitors and evaluates student outcomes.
- Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff and community.
- Develops, selects and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
- Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices.
- Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.
Additionally, teachers will:
- Become members of a professional learning community where purposeful collaboration, flexibility, innovation and shared decision making are encouraged
- Participate in all district and school-based professional development inclusive of working with internal (coaches) and external (consultants) supports
- Support and nurture the academic, social-emotional, and physical needs of all students
- Participate in building a coalition of parent, community and business partners
- Engage in all district-driven curricular and other initiatives as defined by the Providence School Department
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
RIDE Certification Requirements:
- MS/Secondary Math
Qualifications:
- Fully-certified as described above in "RIDE requirements" or willingness to become fully certified including on an emergency basis if necessary (fully-certified strongly preferred).
- You must complete the new hire compliance training prior to your first day of employment.
- Bilingual Preferred.
- Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check. Selected candidates cannot begin work until passing their background check.
- Excellent technology skills including
- familiarity with communication, presentation, and data management tools and applications in desktop, web-based, and mobile environments.
- willingness and ability to model information, communication, technology, and media literacy for students, colleagues, parents, and community.
- willingness and ability to continuously develop and evolve new skills and support colleagues in the development of their skills.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instruct students in academic subject matter as well as social, emotional, and behavioral skill areas.
- Differentiate instruction by developing, selecting and modifying instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
- Promote a school atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of all students.
- Monitor and evaluate student outcomes maintaining appropriate records and following all required procedures and practices.
- Participate fully in a professional community including common planning, professional development, and self-reflection/evaluation.
- Supervise students in a range of settings; protects and promotes the safety and well-being of students, colleagues, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Communicate and interact appropriately and professionally with students, colleagues, parents and the community.
- Continuously develop and evolve teaching practice and support colleagues in their development.
- Support the Principal, building leadership team, and district leadership team.
