Key Responsibilities:
+ Oversees the programmatic and financial operations of the Section to ensure financial and human resources are available to support research, clinical care, educational, and advocacy/policy activities.
+ Develops innovative clinical, educational and research programs to enhance the local standing and national reputation of the Section.
+ Directs the Section's educational and clinical training programs, inclusive of residents, medical students, fellows, and post-doctoral researchers.
+ Supports faculty recruitment and the infrastructure for faculty development.
+ Builds and maintains partnerships with affiliate institutions and community organizations locally, nationally, and internationally.
+ Establishes strong metrics and outcomes for clinical and academic performance.
+ Provide leadership and support for Section, Department, and University Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives and programs.

+ Doctor of Medicine (MD/DO).
+ Board certification in Neonatology.
+ Licensed or able to obtain licensure in the State of Colorado.
+ Seven (7) years of experience in a multi-disciplinary academic Neonatology program.
+ Eligibility for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.
+ Independent care provider who is highly skilled in the management of Neonatology services for pediatric patients.

+ Experience with and commitment to faculty career development through mentoring.
Professor
+ Doctor of Medicine (MD/DO).
+ Board certification in Neonatology.
+ Licensed or able to obtain licensure in the State of Colorado.

+ Eligibility for appointment at the rank of Professor.
+ Independent care provider who is highly skilled in the management of Neonatology services for pediatric patients.

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is one of the nation's premier academic pediatric programs. The Department is also a leader among Child Health research programs ranking third in the nation in the most recent listing of top National Institutes of Health funded Pediatric Departments with over $63 million in active NIH awards. The Department is seeking qualified candidates for the Head of the Section of Pediatric Neonatology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Children's Hospital Colorado. The Section of Neonatology has a diverse faculty with a strong presence in both clinical services and research. With almost 100 faculty, fellows, postdoctoral fellows, research personnel and staff in the Section, we are looking for an inspirational leader with a vision towards advancing the mission of the Section as a premier program for Neonatology clinical care, research, and education. As the largest quaternary care medical center in the western region, the Section is the primary referral center for newborns and infants for much of the Rocky Mountain region and western U.S. The Section offers state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care and specialty services to critically ill infants no matter their condition. Our faculty have extensive collaborations with specialists in Obstetrics/Gynecology, Pediatric Surgery, Cardiology, Pulmonary Medicine, Neurology, Urology, and Genetics, among many others. The Section Head will be responsible for ongoing program development, overseeing clinical practice programs, enhancing the multi-disciplinary clinical and research programs, overseeing the fellowship program, and fostering strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

As the largest medical center in the western region providing such broad expertise, the Section of Neonatology is the tertiary referral center for the Rocky Mountain region and western U.S for babies who are born very prematurely or have serious illnesses or injuries. The Section offers state-of-the-art inpatient medical care and treatment of critically ill infants at two level III/IV facilities with over 130 beds. The Section's educational program includes the highly ranked, ACGME accredited Neonatology fellowship program, supporting four fellows in each of the 3-year training program. At any given time, Section faculty are providing bedside and didactic teaching to fellows, pediatric residents, residents from Denver Health, medical students, nurse practitioner and physician assistant students, nursing students and more. On the research front, the Section boast the Perinatal Research Center (PRC) - the longest standing research and educational program on the Anschutz Medical Campus. Faculty at the Center are on the leading edge of research in maternal, placental, and fetal physiology. The PRC supports the Division of Perinatal Medicine, which is jointly managed by the Departments of Pediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynecology.
