Position Overview
In this role, you will be responsible for the overall security of information systems and applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cyber security principles and practices, as well as experience with a variety of security technologies.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with IT teams to implement security measures and best practices, ensuring the security of systems and applications.
- Create, maintain, and update security policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Keep abreast of the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies, and suggest improvements to enhance the organization's security.
- Participate in incident response planning and execute procedures during security breaches.
- Analyzing and responding to security breaches and other cybersecurity incidents.
- Implementing and managing security software, such as firewalls and encryption programs, to protect systems and data.
- Performing periodic risk assessments and penetration tests to identify vulnerabilities.
- Creating and promoting best practices for information security.
- Keeping an eye on network traffic to identify and respond to security incidents in real-time.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Over 3 years of experience in information security, network security, or a related role.
- Familiarity with security frameworks like NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS Controls.
- Experience with security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, antivirus software, and SIEM solutions.
- Knowledge of networking protocols, operating systems (Windows, Linux), firewalls, VPNs, proxies, and security information and event management systems (SIEMs) and cloud security.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to identify and mitigate network vulnerabilities and explain how to avoid them.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or CISSP are advantageous.
- Writing detailed incident response reports and educating stakeholders on security best practices.
Clearance Requirements
U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
Work Location
Hybrid - Arlington, VA.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $61,000 - $91,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
