Summary Description
Security Dispatcher is responsible for maintaining operational control of communications for DMC Police Authority. Responsible for operating various sophisticated technology equipment, monitoring life safety systems, processing and dispatching emergency & non-emergency calls, The Dispatcher is required to perform while demonstrating optimal customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:
• Monitoring and respond to life safety system - fire panel alarms, CCTV systems, infant abduction systems, access control, etc.
• Knowledge of individual hospital and exterior campus.
• Receive emergency and non-emergency calls and record significant information.
• Prioritize calls according to urgency and importance.
• Use radio, phone or computer to send Police Authority Officers to respond to situations.
• Coordinate with police, fire department and other emergency response teams to ensure appropriate response is made to emergency situations.
• Understanding of police and fire response 911 notifications
• Reporting unusual active to security staff who may investigate further or take action themselves.
• Track inquiries, reports and request via manual or electronic logs.
• Provides exceptional customer service to staff, patients, visitors and physicians.
• Maintains an in-depth knowledge of all security orders, written and oral, pertaining to assigned duties, as well as working knowledge of regulatory requirements needed for position.
• Emergency Management credentials FEMA 300, 400, 700.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
1. High school graduate or GED required or equivalent combination of education and experience.

2. Effective interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the public in a professional and effective manner.
3. Ability to handle both common and crisis situations, calmly and efficiently.

6. Ability to frequently prepare written reports and provide quality customer service.
7. Must meet all physical requirements of the job. This could require an annual physical.
8. Must be able to perform duties wearing personal protective equipment (Masks, gowns, security-related equipment, etc.), as required.
