About the Job
Performs unarmed, uniformed security related services which include but are not limited to; Conducts rounds, secures the facility and the work environment for Mercyhealth partners. Respond to all security calls for assistance relating to partners, patients, and visitors. May be required to work flexible hours, alternate shifts, and weekends. Perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Takes initiative to greet all patients, visitors, and Mercyhealth partners in a timely, professional, and courteous manner projecting an open and friendly attitude on a daily basis.
- Provides a visible deterrence to crime and prohibited activities by patrolling the buildings, grounds, and parking lots of Mercyhealth to detect any irregularities. Inspects doors, windows and locks to ensure a high level of security.
- Respond to all dispatch/ security service calls and overhead emergency code calls
- Checks grounds and areas for cleanliness and safety
- Perform parking lot patrols and enforce Mercyhealth parking policy
- Notifies management/maintenance staff concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment through initiating a work order.
- Assist with completion of fire drills as requested
- Write clear and accurate daily reports of shift activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Provides initial investigation and documentation of incidents of unusual circumstances reported by Mercyhealth personnel, visitors, physicians, or patients.
- Orient and train security staff at respective sites of responsibility as needed. Monitors the Mercyhealth environment using electronic security equipment (CCTV, Alarms, etc.) as applicable by location.
- Is required to assure and/or request partners and contractors to display Mercyhealth badges or required proof of identity.
- Duties pertinent to site specific requirements will be assigned.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Security experience preferred
If working at Rockton, Riverside and Janesville, department specific training (Level 3 TACT training, handcuffing, OC spray, ASP baton, and physical control tactics training, etc.) required within 12 months of hire. Must maintain this proficiency on an annual basis.

Illinois residents are required to possess a FOID(Firearms Owners Identification Card)card/ or be eligible to obtain one for employment
For those driving Mercyhealth vehicles:
Maintain a valid driver's license.
Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth's HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy.
For those driving their personal vehicles:
Maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with proof of vehicle insurance when requested.
