Barbier Security Group (BSG) is a rapidly growing Bay Area based security services company. Founded in 2007 Barbier Security Group has been tasked with providing custom protective security programs for individuals, government organizations and private companies.
BSG is seeking dedicated Campus Residential Security Officers for a prestigious private university in Oakland. The primary responsibility is to ensure access control of residence halls through high visibility, deterrence, patrols, safety escorts, building checks, and community engagement. Officers are expected to foster positive relationships with students, staff, and visitors, promoting a safe and welcoming environment. Responsibilities include acting as first responders to emergencies, monitoring security, communications, and fire/life safety systems, accurately documenting events, and enforcing campus residential rules.
This position requires all shifts to be staffed 24/7, with weekend availability a must. Candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, strong attention to detail, and the capability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations. Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred but not required. - Salary: $25.00 per hour
Note: This position is aligned with the college calendar and is staffed August through May.

Guard Skill Set & Responsibilities:
- Customer Service/Concierge Skills: Provide continuous access control at dorm entrances, ensuring a welcoming and secure environment. Offer concierge-level service to assist with directions, information, and support as needed.
- Access Control: Maintain and monitor access control points throughout the property, ensuring compliance with campus policies. Monitor CCTV cameras and maintain a continuous presence at proctor stations, providing access control, deterring unauthorized individuals, and being watchful for suspicious activity.
- Resident and Visitor Assistance: Aid residents and parents as needed, ensuring all guests and visitors are following the visitor policy with professionalism and integrity.
- Emergency Response: Notify public safety and Incident Response Teams of any security breaches or emergency issues. Respond to critical incidents on and around campus, including emergencies, evacuations, and policy violations, while coordinating with law enforcement.
- Communication and Reporting: Page residence life staff, communicate effectively with University staff, and report all issues to the Shift Supervisor. Accurately document routine and unusual events, ensuring all reports are thorough and timely.
- Safety and Security Monitoring: Continuously monitor all proctor stations, log CCTV footage for unusual or suspicious activity, and utilize specialized training to identify potential security threats. Perform bag checks and other inspections to prevent unauthorized items from entering or leaving the property.
- Building and Facility Inspections: Conduct inspections of buildings, fire watch duties, and audits. Address cleanliness and maintenance issues promptly, completing key service requests and task work orders as needed.
- Community Engagement: Engage with students, faculty, and visitors, providing exceptional guest service and demonstrating extensive knowledge of the campus and its amenities. Maintain a professional uniformed appearance and ensure the work area reflects the high standards of the University.
- Situational Awareness: Maintain constant situational awareness to act as a deterrent to undesirable behaviors and actions, ensuring a safe and secure campus environment.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Valid California Guard Card
- Current driver's license with a minimum of 3 years of driving experience and a clean driving record
- Minimum age of 21 years
- Proficient computer skills, including typing and navigating multiple computer systems
- Knowledge of CCTV equipment, access controls, alarm monitoring, and computer databases
- Bilingual abilities are preferred
- Previous experience in Security, Law Enforcement, Military, or related Public Safety roles
- Experience in security responsibilities for multi-site campus facilities, preferably in a corporate or college setting
- Full availability for any shift, seven days a week, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is preferred
- Physical ability to sit at a desk for majority of shift, responding intermittently about the Dorms, standing and walking on shift on various surfaces (concrete, carpet, etc.)
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
