About the Job
While working to achieve N3B LLCC objectives, will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner; will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety, security and quality an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities (may include, but not limited to):
- Professional knowledge and experience in one or more of the major security areas – classified matter protection and control, information security, physical security, computer security.
- Perform risk analyses so that appropriate countermeasures can be developed.
- Comprehensive knowledge of operations and security & safeguards requirements within a DOE contractor environment, such as DOE Orders and requirements as related to Safeguards and Security Programs and experience in DOE security audits and inspections, risk and vulnerability assessment
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems at an institutional level.
- Ability to interface with all levels of management as well as technical and non-technical personnel to provide recommendations of appropriate and required security & safeguards measures, techniques, and methods to assure and improve the protection of personnel, activities and facilities.
- Knowledge of law enforcement, intelligence, and/or public or private sector security organizations.
- Ability to prepare and present status of the Security environment, process improvement recommendations, policies, practices, and procedures.
- May specialize in areas such as physical security, personnel security, and information security.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to prepare, maintain, or update security procedures, or related documentation.
- Ability to test security measures for final acceptance and implement or provide procedures for ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the measures.
- Ability to train personnel in security procedures or use of security equipment.
- Ability to conduct security audits to identify potential vulnerabilities related to physical security, staff safety, or asset protection.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelors' degree in appropriate discipline; however, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the position’s duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable.
The career level of the position will be determined by the years of relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities; after a candidate has been chosen.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements (Light Work):
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items of at least 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
In a typical workweek as a security specialist, you can expect to work more than 40 hours per week.
Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Noise level: Low to moderate
